I was wondering what exactly this mode select does? There's a screen that gives me the following options: I'm playing the MGS series for the first time! I like Metal Gear Solid 1 I like Metal Gear Solid 2 I like Metal Gear Solid 3 It looks like all the difficulty options are the same for First Time - 2, but 3 adds two more difficulty options. Does any choice here effect what happens in game?

"Metal Gear Solid 2: SUBSTANCE" is composed of the original game ("Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty"), a VR missions pack featuring new stages to play (about 500 in all), five additional playable stories called "Snake Tales" and a special skateboarding mode (a preview of the now released game, Evolution Skateboarding).

The "No Radar" option is advisable to be chosen only for expert players who have memorised the locations and the petrol routes of the guards well. For starters, it is advisable to choose type 1 Radar as this is the easiest and most advantageous type of Radar to use.

Metal Gear Solid's unique play-style contributes to make the game noticeable larger that it really is. Indeed, it is a very short game in spite of its two discs. Yet, the amazing number of things you can do is more than enough to make it seem larger.

I don't like the fact that the official ending of Metal Gear Solid is the one where Meryl lives any more than you do but we're going to have to live with it. Nastasha's book says that Meryl escaped and, since the book was written by Mr. Kojima or someone hired by him, that means its official "cannon" material and thats all there is to it.

Metal Gear Solid is much different than other action games requiring that you sneak in without being noticed. * Don't continue at all. Since this is the case, you will need to rest up your PlayStation for at least 1 hour if you have been playing other games before taking on a less than three hour session with Metal Gear Solid.

The exception to this is that cut-scenes sort of act like entering new areas; if you collect some items and tag a kerotan then get a cut-scene, you can save your progress no problem. Don't rely on this during boss battles though; most bosses have a cut-scene when you deplete half of their stamina.

The EZ gun itself heals teammates, so it's only useful for CO-OPS. As for the MR, if it's not doing anything, it might be the CO-OPS railgun, in which you need at least one other person to help charge it up before you can fire it.

I'm 99% sure reloading from a checkpoint resets your time to where it was when you hit that checkpoint. So it doesn't really cost you there. But if you get a combat alert and have to kill somebody, reloading from a checkpoint resets that so you might lose 5k but you also gain more than that by completing the mission without killing anyone or getting a combat alert.
