Maybe I'm just feeling contrary tonight, but I like Fred 62. A lot. And while it is somewhat more expensive than most greasy spoons, it uses real ingredients--the $13 meatloaf tastes like a $17 meatloaf, at least, and the mac n cheese and most of the sadwiches are swell.

Mr. Pine and I fondly recall Pigall's (downtown)--once we graduated from Starving Student Status, our first splurge (mid 70s) was Pigall's. In Hyde Park, there was the Saucy Crepe, which sadly didn't last for long, but was excellent, too.

For pure damage the 7% are superior, and you get 6% more damage in a 3 socket weapon over using Fire runes, but 5% damage, 10% chance to incinerate and 10% Incinerate resistance is pretty damn nice.

The restaurant claims that their pasta is "made fresh every day", which, interpreted, I think probably means they don't make it in-house but instead outsource their pasta from someplace else -- like Assenti's. Where, of course pasta is made fresh every day. Nice service, but unlike restaurants with equivalent prices, not up there yet.

I think the best fish we've had in town has been at Thai Royal Orchid (SW Herndon & First), each time it has been stellar. I guess you could call it upscale as far as our Asian places go. Sweet Ginger (NW Shaw & Marks) always has fresh fish that you can have one of two ways, a ginger sauce is one and I can't recall the second.

Queenstown and Wanaka are very beautiful. Food is generally overpriced and rather mediocre (rents are extremely high as they are tourist towns). In Queenstown, try "The Cow".
